«Айдахо» и сейчас смотрится неоднозначно, а уж тогда… Случалось, зрители уходили после откровенных сцен, но это даже уже не вопрос вкуса, а вопрос стереотипов восприятия. Подумайте, чем «Айдахо» отличается от той же «Красотки», где героиня Джулии Робертс тоже продает свою любовь за деньги? Может быть, тем, что «Красотка» – это, все-таки, красивая сказка с хорошим концом? А, «Айдахо» уж больно трагичен… или?

Киану незамедлительно окрестили «the most electric kid in Hollywood»,[3 - Keanu dig it? NME (UK), March 28, 1992] потому что он совершенно не парился по поводу своего имиджа, создаваемого, в том числе, и этим фильмом:

«I don’t really have ideas about… image,» says Keanu, rolling back his floppy black locks which meet in the vicinity of his nose. «You say, is that going to affect your image? Well man, I don’t really know. But it’s a great part. I wanted to do it. So what’s the big deal, man? «I’ll either play it or I won’t. And I couldn’t, like, knock back, because it was so… amazing. Впрочем, следующий год был не столь урожайным – проект всего один, но зато какой! Дракула по Брэму Стокеру и режиссер – сам Френсис Форд Коппола.

Нельзя сказать, что в тот момент у Киану были проблемы с поиском работы. Одно время за ним буквально бегали со сценариями.
